Privacy and agency focus on the fact that many different websites and apps collect heavy amount of information about us. Also some of the ways we can be just a little bit safer about it. It is really funny how a lot of people don’t realize that almost every website and app is collecting a lot of our information. Many don’t seem bothered by it. Spotify Wrapped is an example one of the articles brings up, which is something I personally use. Spotify Wrapped is basically giving everyone their yearly data on the music, something that seems small. But goes to show how much these apps know about us as people. It makes readers realize that there is essentially no privacy when using technology, everything input is collected and analyzed for us.

Besides reading about how little privacy we have on these platforms, the article tells us about agency. It goes on to tell us different ways we can take back some control on how much information these websites can collect. Different strategies like viewing privacy settings and using digital tools, reading terms of service, etc. are simple ways to have control over what you share across different media. To be honest, I don’t think I have ever read anything on the terms of service on anything, I just blindly click accept and move on. Who knows what they are making us accept in these terms of service because nobody ever takes the time to read through it or at least skim through it.
