Finally, our last reading of the semester, thank the lord!!! In our last and final reading of Doug Eymans “Defining and Locating Digital Rhetoric”, we were able to grasp the understanding about Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). HCI is the way people interact with computers, technology, and media. It covers and discusses a wide range of topics, from usability and accessibility to interactions. HCI has grown as technology continues to evolve, surrounding everything from desktops to mobile apps and smart devices. Today, HCI blends aspects of computer science, design, and social sciences. In many ways, HCI can be seen as a bridge between the technical world of computing and the human world of communication and interaction.
Language in HCI
Language plays a crucial role in Human-Computer Interaction. It shapes how users engage with digital systems and how these systems communicate with users. Eyman highlights the importance of understanding digital rhetoric, which is the way language interacts within digital environments. In HCI, language is not just about words, it includes all forms of communication such as written, spoken, and even visual. These forms of communication occur between humans and computers. This definition of language in HCI allows us to consider how these instructions, and feedback from digital devices affect how we think and make decisions in the digital world.
User Experiences on the Media
HCI affects humans by shaping the way we interact with technology and how we experience the digital world. As technology evolves, the use of digital media can potentially have significant impacts on our behavior and emotions and the way we interact online. HCI also influences our social interactions, as digital platforms and social media reshape how we communicate, form relationships, and present ourselves. The way we interact with technology can affect our decision-making, and learning experiences. As HCI continues to evolve, it shapes our relationship with media and creates a more inclusive and effective digital environment.
