As I was reading the “Human Computer Interaction (HCI)”, in Eyman’s reading, I was able to realize that the interaction between humans and computers is quite complex. It also speaks on how there are numerous similarities between rhetoric and human computer interaction. The first mention of a parallel is user empowerment. Rhetoric concerns itself on power, knowledge and access and HCI concerns itself on user-centric power as well. Both rhetoric and HCI not only align in interests, but they also align in interest and are committed to usability. Digital Rhetoric is not the only aspect to which human computer interaction can benefit. There is also critical code studies and software studies.

Critical code studies rely on the sole matter of rhetorical methods. It applies crucial analysis to computer code, program architecture and documentation within a socio-historic context. We should see code as its own text that comes with its own rhetoric. Computer scientists create approaches to code while humanity scholars interpret code. This part alone is evident as to how humans and computers interact.

While there are people in the world that create computers, there are several others that use those computers for something entirely different. An example would be, a doctor might use their computer to track and receive patient information and date. I on the other hand simply use my computer for school work and social media. Or, a police officer that uses their computer in their car to track their calls while on duty. Human interaction with computers varies day to day based on the task that said human is trying to accomplish. We have realized as a whole, just how important interaction with computers is. It has become such a norm that we look at others funny when they choose the “traditional” paper and pencil method.
