The exploration of visual rhetoric in digital spaces is quite fascinating. I believe it’s interesting how visual elements can deeply influence meaning and persuasion. In particular, digital environments where images, texts and interactivity all come together. For example, I believe this text does a great job at explaining the connection between visual rhetoric and digital rhetoric. Visual rhetoric can mean different things. It can mean analyzing images, looking at how things are designed and even studying how people react to any of the visuals.
In the text visual rhetoric also provides how visual rhetoric is part of digital rhetoric. I am going to use myself as an example. I am currently building a website for a small business. In this website I need to include both visual and digital rhetoric to make the site effective yet appealing. My colors, layout and images all carry a message/emotion which is visual rhetoric. It can go from a modern style to a playful style. It all depends on what message I am trying to convey. But I also need to think of how my users are going to interact with my website which is digital rhetoric. Are my users able to navigate it without getting lost? Are all the buttons clear and straightforward?
These small elements rely heavily on how my site is structured. How important visuals are that will guide my users through it. The goal is to blend the visual rhetoric with an interactive design, hopefully that makes sense. This is the way I took this whole text by. It’s like visual rhetoric has a small part in digital rhetoric. Images and design choices and the interactive experience come together. Once they are together, they create a smooth yet persuasive digital experience.
