Does the Internet change how you think? Let’s dive into McLuhan’s theories to see how modern tools like Google and PowerPoint reshape our culture.

The Media, The Message, and McLuhan

While new mediums can be great for spreading information, how can they affect information being retained by those users?

In order to properly understand technology, we must first have an understanding of how it affects our culture and society

New media reshape how we communicate, focus, and engage with information, as McLuhan and Carr highlight the power of the medium itself.

I could see a bit of similarity between the two reads. They both expressed how the media and the web have changed our culture entirely.

I’ve heard of Marshall McLuhan’s “the medium is the message” speech during my public speaking class, so I think this text would be familiar.

There is importance in understanding the messages within a medium and the effect that it has in society, culture, and the classroom.

A lone piece of text will never be more important than the medium through which it created. After all, the medium is the message.

Marshall McLuhan says that “the medium is the message”, however it is that change that comes from the medium that is most meaningful.

McLuhan expresses the importance of understanding the impact of media on society in order to fully understand a media’s message.
