Levels to Technology

There is a meme that goes “There are genuinely levels to ts” and I believe that is the best representation of what I think Jeffrey A. Bacha was trying to argue. There are levels to tech. If I asked someone to send a message, or make a comment on a social media post, they would know how to do it. It’s very easy to do the basic stuff with technology. We spend so much time with our phones or computers that it would be hard to not know how to work around it for everyday needs. If my phone is lagging, I can look around settings to see if I need an update. I may know the basics with technology, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I know everything about technology.

I’m not able to make a tech-based project using excel. I may know how to search and watch videos on YouTube, but I can not make and edit an entire video. Technology goes way beyond what we do with everyday life. It’s very easy to use technology for media, but to use technology to create something is a completely different challenge. It’s like when old people think the younger generation are tech savvy because they were able to restart their phone when it turned off. We should not assume that people are “tech savvy” because they have basic knowledge about tech. People spend years learning and truly understanding what can really be done with technology when used right. The assumption of deeper knowledge on a subject that goes deeper than we can comprehend is useless and doesn’t do anyone justice.
