The world is always spinning and changing. As it continues to do so, we are constantly affected by writing and print. J.D. Applen discusses this in his work, Old Media, New Media, and Knowledge. According to Applen, “The late age of print characterizes the age we are living in now, where we still use print but in electronic formats such as word processing programs, email, and the World Wide Web.” Digital platforms are also useful for beginning writers and authors to be noticed. It allows for them to start a blog or website where they can market their writing and themselves. They use text and media to do so.

We are always reading in today’s world. Whether it is a social media post, a blog post, a caption, a book or e-book, we are always reading. Reading is how we process everything. The only difference between now and the early ages of life is that most of our reading is done digitally. It is safe to say and assume that digital print is not going anywhere. It will continue to grow and develop as people invest their time and money in technology. Essentially, we are growing along with technology.

People are found buying everything on a digital platform; i.e., books, audiobooks, podcasts, music. Some do it for mobility and accessibility, while others purchase for the sake of the environment, or to save money on physical copies. E-books for instance, are roughly $9.99 per book, while hard copies range from $15-$20 depending on if it is hard cover or not. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.
