Digital Privacy

Engaging in any network activity leaves your information subject to infiltration. A google search isn’t just that, its an invitation for unwanted entities to access your data. Writing online, in digital environments, can pose threats to one data. I’ve had my fair share of social media hackers taking over my instagrams back in high school. I mean, at such a young age, and even younger, we are exposed to the internet, without grasping of the perils haunting the web. Especially now, with public games, and websites where anyone can talk to anyone, it’s important to educate the youth, and any age group, about the safety precautions when engaging the internet. Also teaching people what information not to share or put out online, can help prevent hackers attempts at stealing people’s information data.

Spacial Privacy

Privacy pertaining to digital writing spaces, is not the only kind of privacy that matters when writing. Taking part in the writing process is a personal thing, “Understanding and Maintaining Your Privacy When Writing with Digital Technologies,” by Lindsey C. Kim, references Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own, explaining the importance of privacy in correlation with one’s writing process. Some people don’t need a quiet room, void of distractions. While others may prefer the solitude to carry on with their creative endeavors. I’ve found that I’m neutral. I could easily write an essay or short story in a classroom, or my bedroom floor. The isolation sometimes causes me to lose focus. My phone, if close to me, usually becomes the perfect tool of procrastination.
