I thought this topic was really interesting because I never thought about wampum as a type of communication or technology before. When I think about technology, I usually think about phones, computers, social media, or other digital things. This article showed me that technology can be much more than that. Wampum was used by Indigenous people to share stories, keep information, and communicate with others. I thought it was interesting that the colors, patterns, and designs could have different meanings and help communicate ideas.
I can relate this to digital rhetoric because today we use many different things to communicate, such as words, pictures, videos, websites, and links. Wampum also used different ways to share information through designs, patterns, and storytelling. I also thought it was interesting how wampum connects to hypertext because hypertext allows us to connect different ideas and pieces of information together.
One thing that stood out to me was that multimedia is not something that only started with computers and the internet. Indigenous people had their own ways of sharing, communicating, and keeping information long before modern technology existed. I think this is important because it shows that people have always found creative ways to communicate with each other.
Overall, this article made me think differently about what technology really means. I liked learning about wampum and how it can connect to something we use today, like hypertext. It showed me that communication and technology have always been connected in many different ways throughout human history.
