I never watched the Simpsons but have always been aware of the fact that they are always predicting the future. In 2007 the Simpsons predicted that Donald Trump would be president. Visual Rhetoric likes to take cartoon figures to grab and persuade their audiences attention.

A way for someone to persuade a person or draw them in can be used in an emotional form. It makes government agencies appear helpless and under control, which causes the audience to feel strong emotions like wrath or concern. For example, the commercial with Sarah McLachlan about animal cruelty. The person creating the digital content knows how to create something with emotional meaning. The images of sad animals and heartbreaking music playing in the background draws in its audience. This is how digital rhetoric can be used to persuade its audience to feel emotion towards something.
