Without mew media, there has to have been an establishment of media from society. From carvings on caves, hand written media, to hype writers, which brings us to our first computer/phone. As generation evolved, people began to brainstorm on hoe society can receive important information. The goal was to get as many people to receive news at one time.

Evolution of Media

One of the ways that people found a way to share a mass amount of information was through radios. For example, the classic radio was able to spread this information. According to Libraries, 1.3 The Evolution Of Media, “Radios, which were less expensive than telephones and widely available by the 1920s, had the unprecedented ability of allowing huge numbers of people to listen to the same event at the same time.” (The Evolution of Media, 2016) As shown from the quote, society soon started to realize what worked best for the general population. People were (literally) building ways to make media accessible to all. This was taken into consideration with time period and the amount of resources and money.

Media Today

Over time, as technology increased, media advanced. The website Muse helps us define what is to be called “New media”. According to Digital Rhetoric: Theory, Method, Practice, Cynthia Selfe defines new media as “texts created primarily in digital environments, composed in multiple media (e.g., film, video, audio, among others), and designed for presentation and exchange in digital venues.” (Eyman, 2015).

Social Media

This quote helps people view media as more than social media. I believe current generations like to associate all media with social media. Simply, because that is what people are used to. To add, I think that there is no need for digital revues in today’s age. This is because apps like TikTok or Facebook are able to share news about the world in a less professional way.
